In March, I traveled to World Learning's Kosovo office for a few days of filming. In April, I attended Bocoup's OpenVis Conference in Boston and got (re)inspired to play around with HTML5 background video. Combine those two influences, and this is the result.
I used reveal.js for the slide effect. With this much video, loading speed is a concern. The development branch of reveal.js supports lazy loading media assets. The current production branch does not. By the time I realized this, I had modified the latter too much to switch.
Over the next few weeks, I will be working on a similar project using someone else's footage from Mexico. If I have the time, the next one will be IE-compatible. Also, each video slide will play its own audio when selected, rather than a single track of Prishtina-footballer-cum-Gregorian chanting.
